Today we added to this website a page about the illustrations for The Master and Margarita made by the Russian artist Andrey Vladimirovich Nikolaev (1922-2013).
He became known for his illustrations of the famous novel War and Peace by Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy. The book has been reprinted ten times and a total of over 1.5 million copies have been sold.
In 1988 and 1989, Nikolaev made a series of notable illustrations for the novel The White Guard by Mikhail Bulgakov. In the meantime, he also started a series for The Master and Margarita, which he worked on from 1987 to 1990. In 2019, the Moscow publisher Eksmo used this series to publish a deluxe edition of the novel.
