Ten candles for the Bulgakov House

Early 2004, a handful of enthusiastic Bulgakov adepts managed to realize a long-cherished dream: they were able to establish a museum in Bolshaya Sadovaya street number 10 in Moscow. On May 15, 2004 - the anniversary of Mikhail Bulgakov - more than 500 people gathered for the opening reception in the building where the writer used to live in the infamous apartment number 50 and which he gave an important role in The Master and Margarita.

Yes, it was May 15, 2004 - It means that our friends of the Bulgakov House in Moscow will celebrate their tenth anniversary next week. And Mikhail Bulgakov his 123rd. Time flies...

The official name of the museum is Музей-театр «Булгаковский Дом» or Museum-Theatre Bulgakov House. For 10 years already this cultural center is driven by the irrepressible enthusiasm of a young team taking a lot of initiatives such as the organisation of quite amazing Bulgako excursions (day and night), the running of Café 302-bis, the housing of the Bulgakov Theatre, the organisation of exhibitions and festivals, and much more.

This enthusiasm will surely be shown once more at the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Bulgakov House on May 14 and 15, 2014. All the stars of the past 10 years will be present, together with circus acts, live music and dancing. Among many other activities, there will be an exhibition with the beautiful Master & Margarita illustrations made by Pavel Orinyansky. Furthermore, Tramway 302-bis will leave the building a few times for a ride through Moscow, and the Sergey Aldonin Theatre will represent its well-known version of The Master and Margarita. On May 15, at 21:30, the festivities will be concluded with a special show programme composed for the occasion and the cutting of the birthday cake.
