Auditions for The Master and Margarita in New York
April 15, 2013
If you have the ambition to play a role in a stage adaptation of The Master and Margarita, this may be an opportunity for you.
The Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, is planning a stage adaptation of The Master and Margarita which will be represented from July 11 to 21, 2013.
Casting director Judy Bowman is looking for actors. The auditions will be held on April 22, 2013 in New York. The rehearsals will start on May 31, 2013 at the Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson.
The director of the play will be János Szász. He is known for his adaptation A Mester és Margarita in Budapest (Hungary), where it played for many years at the Nemzeti Színház (the National Theatre). In 2011, János Szász was invited by the Moscow Chekhov Art Theatre, where Bulgakov himself had been working, in order to create a new adaptation of the novel. He created quite a commotion by presenting a contemporary version of it, including scenes in a subway tunnel. At one point of the representation, bank notes of 5,000 rubles fluttered down from the ceiling on the audience.
The Fisher Center for the Performing Arts is, among others, looking for actors who can play the roles of the Master, Margarita, Pontius Pilate, Woland, Koroviev and many others.
