Etches by Nino Japaridze
May 24, 2012
The Gallery of Surrealism in New York presents a portfolio of four limited edition etches made by the contemporary French-Georgian painter Nino Japaridze, and inspired by Mikhail Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita.
Nino Japaridze was born in 1961 in Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1985, she received her Master of Fine Arts at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Tbilisi, where she became Professor of Drawing in 1987. Now she lives and works in Paris.
The portfolio presented in the Gallery of Surrealism has been limited to 25 prints in black and white, numbered from 1 to 25 in Arabic numbers, and 25 color prints for the deluxe edition, numbered from I to XXV in Roman figures. Each print of the deluxe edition has been put in water colors by the artist. This is the second editorial collaboration of the gallery with Japaridze, after the noticed edition of her first work, The Eternal Return, presented in 2010 at the Palais de Tokyo.
